Breakfast Nook Bench Styles
Many people might think that benches are a type of seating furniture that is only used outside or in a farm house. But, the truth is that there are many pieces of modern furniture that use benches, specifically a breakfast nook bench. It is true that you still do not see benches in formal dining room sets, but the breakfast nook is a room that is less formal and many breakfast nook sets utilize bench seating. The design of the breakfast nook benches is important so that the furniture fits into a modern home.
First, the benches should not look like picnic table benches. There will be a back of some kind and usually the base is solid providing for storage. A breakfast nook bench with storage is a welcome addition to any kitchen. Picnic benches are just slabs of wood with legs. The benches you use in your breakfast nook will be much more substantial than these. In addition, there is usually some kind of padding on the benches in your kitchen so that the seating is more comfortable.
Second, while some people might use them, most breakfast nook benches are not like restaurant booths. They do not have a padded seat and a padded back that comes all the way down to meet the seat. The only time I have seen this type of bench in a breakfast nook is when the homeowner was going for a retro kitchen and wanted the breakfast nook to look like a 1950’s diner. Most modern breakfast nook benches have a slight separation between the padded seat and the padded back rest, or the back of the bench is not padded.
Finally, you want to make sure that the fabrics and materials used for the construction of your entire breakfast nook bench set match the décor in the rest of your kitchen. If you have a country themed kitchen then a wooden breakfast nook set with bright fabrics will work well. On the other hand, a more modern kitchen might be better complimented by a metal breakfast nook set with leather fabric.
