Bed bugs are increasingly developing a resistance to pesticides, which is one good reason to use chemical free bed bug control.  Another reason is to avoid harmful chemicals in your home.  There are several methods of chemical free bed bug control that are effective solutions.

To kill bed bugs on your own, you can use a steamer that is 120ºF.  To intensify the heat vapors, wrap a towel around the brush head.  The most effective steamers are low moisture ones with large brush heads.   Avoid using the steamer on finished wood or other objects that can be damaged by high levels of direct heat.

An easy chemical free treatment for infested clothing, bedding or rugs is to wash and dry them at the highest setting.  The high temperature of dryers kills bed bugs and their eggs.  Shoes and backpacks can be placed only in the dryer for quick elimination of bed bugs.

There are numerous chemical free sprays for bed bugs and their eggs.  They use non-toxic substances that are sprayed directly onto areas infested by bed bugs.  These sprays kill bed bugs on contact and can be applied multiple times without leaving any pesticide residue.  These sprays are most effective when sprayed directly on bed bug clusters. Most are safe to use around children and pets.
