Do Fake Surveillance Cameras Have A Place In Home Defense Systems?
Implementing a security plan for your home will probably not be complete if you exclude using modern home electronic security devices in your considerations. After all, in the electronic and digital era, most will agree that home security has become quite synonymous to electronic or digital home security systems. Today, it is incumbent upon every home owner to install even the most basic of security devices and include them in the planning for a new home or for an upcoming renovation or upgrade.
One of the more popular security devices that is used by many, in both commercial and non-commercial capacities, is the security or surveillance camera.
A security camera is basically a camera installed in areas of a home or business property to provide video surveillance of that area. This helps property owners record and capture images of that area for the purpose of recording everything that happens there. The area, therefore, becomes more secure because most criminals will not knowingly commit crime if they knew they will be videotaped. Hence, a security camera actually becomes an effective deterrent against any criminal activities, which is the reason why it is actually more effective in preventing criminality which in effect helps keep a home or business property more secure.
This psychological deterrent that security cameras possess is also the reason why fake security cameras may work just as well as a real one. There are instances when companies or home owners use these cameras on areas that aren’t covered by real and working surveillance cameras. They sometimes use it as temporary measures that they take until a real and working system is installed. Some use it as permanent deterrents for those areas of their properties. There are even home and business owners who use dummy security cameras exclusively and not as supplementary deterrent devices in support of their working security systems.
No matter what they are used for, it is clear that fake cameras do have a role in many people’s security system implementation. Some use them to strengthen their existing defense perimeter but some also use them as their main deterrent against criminals who may see their properties as viable targets.
