Planning A Mario Themed Birthday Party

A Super Mario themed birthday party is as popular now as it was twenty years ago.  Who would’ve thought that a fat plumber could really stand the test of time?  I had a Mario birthday party when I was a kid, and now my kid wants one.  There aren’t many things that happen like that, except for maybe Sesame Street.  I want to share with you everything that I have planned for this party so that you can have a successful one yourself.

The key, I think, to making this as fun as possible is to stick as close to the theme of the video games.  We have a large park across the street from out house with lots of trees that we plan on having some basic games that are Super Mario-ized.  My wife plans on being the princess, and I’m Bowser, and we’re going to play a game of “King of the Mountain” where the object is to get past me and to the princess to rescue her.  We also have a game of tag planned where whoever is “it” becomes Bowser and everyone has to stay away from them.

After outside game time is over, we’ll head back inside for a round of Super Mario on Wii.  Our party is pretty small, so each kid will have plenty of time to play.  The game allows four players to play at once, so it will go over pretty well and everyone will get their turn.

The cake is the highlight of the party.  My wife and I are pretty good at decorating cakes, and we bought the old school Super Mario Bros cake pan (the same one my mom had for me on my birthday) and we plan on decorating it really nice.  That might not actually be the highlight for the kids, but it certainly will be for us!

Mario never goes out of style, and neither will the birthday parties.  This is our plan, and we have a feeling it’s going to be a hit!  I hope that yours is the same.
