The Difference Between Eyebrow Implants And Eyebrow Transplants

At one time the terms eyebrow implant and eyebrow transplant had different meaning but how they are synonymous with each other as changes have been made to the procedures for hair grafting and what is and is not acceptable any more.  Part of the confusion came from the fact that some hair restoration doctors used to actually implant artificial hairs into the balding area of men with male pattern baldness.  This probably seemed like a good idea at the time but proved to be very ineffective.  The big problem was with infection at the implant site.  Our bodies are designed to heal over any puncture in our skin with scar material which acts as a sealant against foreign germs.  With a made made piece of fiber sticking out of the skin this scarring could not occur and thus germs could enter causing infection.  Artificial hair implants were outlawed in the US because of this problem.

Another cause of confusion was the craze for transplanting hair from a donor person to the patient with hair loss cased by pattern baldness.  This was another great idea that turned sour.  It seems that like other organs, hair follicles must genetically match the body of the recipient or they are rejected.  This caused massive problems in the scalp which was very dangerous because of its proximity to the brain.  This method of hair restoration was quickly dropped due to this concern.

Thus the only method that seems to work is transplanting or implanting the patient’s own living and growing follicles from one area of the head to another.  With the eyebrow transplant method this is exactly what happens.  The surgeon removes hair follicles from the back of the head then implants them into the brow area giving the look the patient desires.  If you want to change how you look this is a very good alternative.
